What I use, in short

This site uses no profiling cookies and shows no advertising. It uses one thing that is not strictly necessary — visit statistics — and only after you have accepted it.

Necessary tools

To remember your answer to the banner I save a value in your browser’s storage, called “ga_consent”: it contains only the word “accepted” or “declined”. It stays on your device, is sent to nobody, and serves only to avoid asking you the same thing on every page. If you have signed in to the private area, a second value keeps your session.

Visit statistics

If you accept, the site enables Google Analytics, which writes its own cookies (“_ga” and similar) to tell one visit from another. They let me know which pages are read and which countries the enquiries come from: I do not use them to identify you as a person, nor to show you ads. Until you choose, and if you decline, Analytics stays off and writes nothing.

Changing your mind

You can withdraw or give consent whenever you like with the button below: the saved choice is cleared and the banner reappears on the next page. Alternatively you can clear site data from your browser settings, which has the same effect.
